"West Side Story is NOT a Love Story" - Video Artifact

From Project 3- Multigenre Persuasive Campaign

The purpose of this video is to appeal to college students in a theatre history course to attempt to convince them that West Side Story is not a love story but rather a social commentary on the effects of hate.

This project, specifically this artifact, reflects the composing practices that I learned in this course. I used rhetorical appeals and conventions of genre in order to make this an effective source of persuasion. For example, the use of logos is seen in the amount of evidence used to back up my claims. The evidence is both in written and audio form from the script and the movie West Side Story. Similarly, the use of design is relevant as the video needs to be visual appealing and entertaining.

"How Boolean Operators Work"
- Handwritten Notes

Notes on Video "How Library Stuff Works: Boolean Operators (AND OR NOT)" by McMaster Libraries on YouTube

These notes were an on a video assigned for us to watch and it discussed helpful research methods to ensure we were being effective and specific to find the best possible sources that match what we are looking for.

These notes helped me when writing my Research Paper for Project 1 because I was able to advance my searches on the FSU Library Database and JSTOR to be more specific which caused less work for me in the long run because I was able to find sources about my topic more quickly. This is a skill I will continue to use outside of this course.
